Amazon Music already had plans to celebrate Black Music Month during June 2020 before the murder of George Floyd. In light of that event and too many more like it, the department committed much more than initially planned. We had a day of reflection on Blackout Tuesday, and in addition to researching Black history, I started this voices of the Civil Rights Movement project. I used Procreate on an iPad Pro to create these illustrations of Black artists with lyrics from their civil rights movement anthems.
